A soft tape measure with both inches and centimeters, designed for the most common macrame mistake: cutting cord to the wrong length and running out mid-project.
Always measure twice, cut once. The cord measurement formula for plant hangers is: finished height × 4 to 4.5 × 2 (because cords are folded). For wall hangings, multiply by 3 to 4. Use a soft measuring tape because rigid rulers cannot wrap around cord on a roll.
